What is ‘hybrid’ publishing?
Wattle Tree Press is not a ‘vanity’ publisher. We are an emerging Hybrid Publisher.
Hybrid publishing companies behave just like traditional publishing companies in all respects, except that they publish books using an author-subsidized business model, as opposed to financing all costs themselves and, in exchange, return a higher-than-industry-standard share of sales proceeds to the author. A hybrid publisher makes income from a combination of publishing services and book sales.
Your Work, Your Rights
We are authors for authors. We believe authors should maintain full ownership of their work. We don’t request rights like most publishers do.
Royalties VS Revenue
We don’t want your royalties. We believe authors, not publishers, should profit most from book sales. So, unlike most publishers, we don’t retain royalties. We earn revenue through a small amount of book sales and project management.
World-wide Distribution Options
We spread your wings (and pages) ‘wide’. ‘Wide’ distribution means making your book available on multiple platforms, such as Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Google Play Books, and other retailers. Instead of being exclusive to Amazon, you can reach a broader audience across different markets and reading devices.
Wattle Tree Press can establish your book widely with on-demand printers so you have as many copies as you want, when you want, wherever in the world you want. Unlike other publishers, we won’t make decisions about inventory.
Choice and Control
Hybrid publishing companies publish books using an author-subsidised business model. They take your manuscript and turn it into a professionally published book, assisting you to independently publish your work.

You submit your work for publication and, if accepted, you pay us to manage your publishing project.
We do the things you cannot (or just don’t want to) do yourself.
We have an obligation free Client Call, during which time we build a quote together for the services you wants and need. You pay us for those services, and benefit from our expertise and guidance throughout your publication project.
Like a traditional publisher, we can create a professional, marketable book for you, and enable global distribution so your book can be available online, to brick-and-mortar bookstores, and libraries.
Unlike traditional publishing, we don’t pay you advances or have a bazillion dollars to throw at marketing your project. This is why Wattle Tree Press offers authors business start-up services such as websites, tailored branding and templates to help create an appealing online presence.
Like self-publishing, you get all the creative control. You have the final say on everything from the cover design to the placement of page numbers.
Unlike self-publishing, we handle everything for you, acting as your project manager to handle the ins and outs, and relieving the stress that can be associated with publishing. We are teachers, authors, and business people who know just how overwhelming learning new skills and metalanguage can be.
